Inspections - Kinder 241015
General
MSS conducted, on October 15, 2024, a walk through of the MSS Kinder building. This is not an inspection. Rather, it is a walk-through by laymen to capture obvious maintenance issues and concerns and to provide a current baseline pending the implementation of the maintenance plan.
The upper MSS Kinder building is a relatively new building compared to the LMSS and UMSS buildings so has less wear and tear. It is also smaller so the electrical system and water system are less complex.
Observations are summarized below.
| Observed | Need |
|---|---|
| Electrical system is undocumented (no blueprint). | This may require the services of a professional. It should be documented for general safety and maintenance, and potential future remodeling/renovations. |
| Water/sewage system undocumented (no blueprint), but there is only one restroom facility so documentation is not complex. | This may require the services of a professional. It should be documented for general maintenance and potential future remodeling/renovations. |
| Doors. Five of the seven exterior doors are 'homemade' plywood hollow doors starting to come apart and are not aligned to the door frame. | A carpenter may need to fix the door frames and replace all 5 of the 7 exterior doors and replace or install doorknobs and deadbools. |
| Windows. Six of the twelve windows are louvre type for rooms that are now air conditioned. Five are glass sliding windows for airconditioned rooms. The last is louvered but is for the restroom. | The six louvered windows (210 sqft) need to be changed to accommodate airconditioning. |
| Roof leaks. There are signs of water damage in the library and the boys' restroom. | These need to be assessed by a professional and addressed. |
| Restrooms. There is one restroom facility for the Kindergarten | While pretty clean, general cleaning plus minor repairs to plumbing may be warranted. |
