Background

In February 2022 the MSS Principal initiated an effort to align the school's activities to planning. Because the WASC Self Study conducted by the school in 2019-2020 had the most comprehensive information about the school, that is used to provide the framework for this effort.

Approach

MSS Staff identified the three top areas that need to be addressed before the start of SY2023: Consistent Policy, Concrete and Adequately Resourced Curriculum, and Teacher Development and Enhancement Policy.

The WASC Report 2020 does mention these areas. However, in order to be able to address the issues, we need to know exactly what currently exists at MSS and fully understand the details of MSS's related processes and procedures.

The approach taken is to do a detailed look into these areas with the clear goal of targetting something that can be accomplished by the start of SY23.

After we complete these tasks, we then link them up to the WASC Criteria. This then becomes the actual and accurate status report for the given WASC criteria.

This Summer's Projects

• Projects and Teams. By 7/7, We had identified the projects and formed the teams.
  • 1. Handbook, 2. Tchr Base Docs, 3. MSS Instr Mat, 4. G4 Tablet Deploy,
  • 5. Tchr Tech, 6. Master Stu & Staff List, 7. Electronic Report Card
• Project Activities. The Teams started their group work on 7/11.
• Other Areas that Need to be covered ASAP
  • Technology - WASC calls for leveraging technology both in instruction and in operations. These, and the reliance on data systems require the set up of adequate infrastructure.
  • Data System - WASC requires the use of data. This in turn requires the use of a good data system to support data driven reporting and decision making.
